A Peek into Training at Defy

Have you ever wondered what it looks like to train at a Functional Fitness gym?

Have you ever wondered what a progressive strength and conditioning program looks like?

How nice would it be to go to a gym where you don’t have to think about what workout you going to come up with, you’re not just going to do a bunch of random stuff for the sake of it and your workout will support your goals?

Well this is what we have in store for the members of Defy’s group classes this week…

Monday

Starting with some power cleans which will help build your explosive power, use almost every muscle in our body and build our weightlifting skills

The conditioning piece is an interval workout that has no rest. This will challenge the heart and lungs, also grip strength and skill endurance will come into play. A great workout to boost fitness levels and start the week.

Tuesday

The main focus for Tuesday is a 20min workout. There will be lots of warming up/prepping the body – practicing movements like Toes to bar and skipping before taking on the workout.

This is our way of doing longer cardio pieces without it being as monotonous as a run. You don’t want to stop moving on this workout, burn plenty of cals and shed some body fat!

Wednesday

Thursday

Our second longer cardio day of the week. This one is lower skill than Tuesday’s workout and higher reps. You’ll be able to build your cardiovascular and muscular endurance with this workout.

Friday

Squat Day! Another chance to load up and lift some good weight. Like deadlifting, we see the squat pattern a lot in life. We don’t always use our full range of motion though. Sitting to a chair is half of a squat.

We want to be able to lift heavy through the full range of motion to keep our knees, hips and ankles healthy and strong. Don’t neglect your squat and help build muscle and stay young!

Saturday

On Saturday we do Team Wod. This is a partner workout that allows you to work really hard while your partner takes rest and then you switch to complete the workout. These kind of intervals get the heart rate high and you burn a lot of cals!

Team workouts are alway super fun and you often work a lot harder when working for your buddy!
