One Step at a Time

Almost everyone is starting or re-starting their fitness routine. Even if you kept training during lockdown by running or doing online workouts, you’re still re-starting with gym-based training.

Take one step at a time…

The goal is to progress for years and years to come. If you haven’t seen the recent Amazon series The World’s Toughest Race then you should check out the team of 60+ year olds still battling through the sport of adventure racing. It’s wild!

We don’t need to set any world records in the gym today – just be consistent.

Here’s how to ensure you keep progressing and don’t get injured:

1. Always prioritize your form and technique over the weight and speed – no exceptions.

2. Talk to your coach – let them know if you’re sore or struggling with a movement. Let us help you.

3. Come back slowly – either break yourself in with a few weeks coming every other day or pick a couple of days where you’re not going to push too hard.

4. Sleep, nutrition and hydration all help you to recover

5. Check the ego a bit – modification is OK and very much encouraged. Again, talk to your coach and find a way to keep moving and progressing.

We can make no real progress in a week, a little progress in a month and A LOT of progress in a year. In years to come, you will be unrecognizable compared to your previous self.

Consistency is what wins this game…

Reap the rewards of years of consistent progress to become Better At Life. I also recommend you learn how to start investing in ETFs, which is an easy way to get exposure to the stock market.
